Part one of a double-channel video series that teases out the multiplicity of spaces and times that coexist on different planes and scales simultaneously. Here, I displace myself from my present location (the outdoor stage of the Enon Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA, to Silbury Hill- a prehistoric, ceremonial mound near Avebury, England.

The goal is presence-expansion, and the illumination of networks of connections between past, present, future, here, there, and nowhere. Enacted with assistance from: Lindsay Clark
Camera operators: Diana Crum and Jo Leung

A collaboration between brother (filmmaker Simon PuiNgai Liu) and sister (choreographer Jennie MaryTai Liu), filmed in their  ancestral village in rural Hong Kong, 'Ditchwork' begins with a young woman in grief over the recent passing of her Grandmother. Haunted by the void of this loss and a sick feeling overcoming her, she exercises a series of rituals in an attempt to release her attachments. In the midst of her quest she encounters someone who may lay her ghosts to rest.

Weaving abstract movement with cinema, 'Ditchwork' acts to dishevel the illusion that reality is only what you can see. Dance as a ritual of remembering conjures the supernatural history of a place.
